Adventure doesn’t end for the effervescent heart of mine. Its been a bumpy ride, winding through thickets, treacherous mountain roads, crystal-clear lakes, ever winding cascades and more. On a recent trip to Germany, I discovered the most blissful things in life, cycling through vineyards and pastures and uphill cornfields, walking through the plum and apple orchards in Southern Germany and so much more. I tripped on pebbles, felt the cold water wash over my feet at the river bank, sauntered through the maze like patches of freshly bloomed flowers.. Being in the lap of Mother nature makes you realize things spiritually, its the intangible connection..anyway, back to my trip to Germany.

Burg Katz and the Rhine River

Burg Katz and the Rhine River

The best of all places I visited was the Rhine Valley, north of Germany. A wide valley, dotted with woods and vineyards, the perfect place to relax on a lazy vacation, a hit amongst the romantics (Pun intended). A picture perfect view of castles, cathedrals, and city halls resting for years on the brink of the riverbed set my gray cells ticking to paint its beauty in words. I also had the privilege of attending ‘Rhine in Flames’ a music concert with the most spectacular display of fireworks. Though I couldn’t understand the lyrics in German, but I could certainly feel the universality of the celebration of Rhine’s beauty.

Hohenzollern Bridge and Cologne Cathedral at Dusk

A memorable trip is one that makes you realize the finer things in life. It may not be all too perfect but it leaves its mark in your travel diary. For me, the trip to Germany was one such sojourn that left my traveler’s appetite wanting more. Pity, I couldn’t extend it.

The name France is derived from the Latin word Francie, which means “the land of the franks” or “frankland”. There are numerous theories about the origin of this name. One being that it is derived from the Proto-Germanic work frankon meaning javelin, the other being that in an ancient German language it means free and many more.

Udaipur, the Royal city of lakes, also known as the Venice of the east. The divine and culturally endowed land of Udaipur, looks just so beautiful with lakes surrounding it and hemmed in the Aravalli hills.

City Palace, Fateh Prakash Palace, Lake Palace are the places that give you the royal experience of once in a lifetime with the warmth of hospitality and those ripples in the lakes leaving you mesmerized. The best part about this place is that there are some lovely forts and places that are worth being explored, like, Chittourgarh Fort, Kumbhalgarh Fort, Ranakpur, Ghanerao, Haldighati, Sajjangarh.

Truly a place that seems to have come out of the imagination of the painters an poets into reality with the blend of fascinating sights that’s murmuring a fairy tale to your ears.

Trust me, this is one place where the very traditional culture is still intact, like all natives to the place are always seen wearing a safa, that is, the pagdhi.

And then how can we not talk about the food. The city offers you a nerve reckoning spicy food, that for sure you can’t abstain yourself from, including my very favourite, daal baati choorma, subjiz like gatte ki subzi, paapad ki subzi, Titpoliye, bele ki subzi, saanghri, along with 11 different variety of kadis and the spiciest of all, the garlic sauce, known as lehsun ki chutney.

All this blend of culture, art and the very luring sights can give you an ecstatic state of high, a perfect place for honeymooners to romance.

One place that can sweep you off your feet and make you say “ This is Heaven!!”

Is there a place in India, which is totally pollution free and a paradise on Earth? If no, then think again! I never believed it until I visited the place. Welcome to the God’s own country – Kerala. A paradise on Earth, I believe. My seven day tour to Kerala was an experience of a life time. The lush greenery to the beautiful beaches to the awesome waterfalls. All in one. The one hot stop destination for tourists all over the world. I truly believe that nothing can get better than this. Right from the busy streets of Ernakulum to the quieter Allepey, the state has its own charm, constantly intoxicating its inhabitants.

A mesmersing view of kerala

A mesmersing view of kerala

The customs and traditions of this state that is unique in its own, be it the Kerala sari or the Guruvayur temple to the Santa Cruz Basilica church. The state has it a The essence of the state is clearly seen in its people who take pride in belonging to that place. The state known for its exuberance and life during Onam to the peace it provides in the romantic Kumarakonam. I got an opportunity to hear nature in its true form for the first time at the Athirampalli water falls. The most exquisite site I have ever had. The clean water rushing by the feet gives a feel of rejuvination making one stop and rethink as to what is life all about. Adding to this is the Ayurveda, which treats the mind and the soul uniquely. I can call the place an ultimate comfort and never felt like coming back.

The Paradise Baby as I would put it because for its purity in nature which is to be nurtured the right way for it to grow beautifully. The must visits in Kerala are

  • Guruwayur temple in Cochin and the Ananthapadnabhaswami temple in Thiruvananthapuram for its beautiful architechture.
  • Fort Kochi for the touch of the French and Portuguese and their marks on the state.
  • The Kathakali Dance for its originality.
  • Atleast one visit to a good Ayurvedic centre to discover the ancient India’s excellence in Traditional Medicine.
  • The Athirampalli Waterfalls for its pure beauty.
  • The hills of Munar and Wayanad. A minimum of one night to be spent in the Houseboats taking a trip from Allepey to Kumarkonam to hear nature in peace.
  • The Kovalam beach in Thiruvananthapuram for the shining black sand in the beautiful sunset.
  • Not to miss out is the Kerala food known mainly for the great amount of coconut usage in it. A must try out!
The Ayurveda- A natural remedy for even the most uncurable disease

The Ayurveda- A natural remedy for even the most incurable disease

I was fortunate enough to visit Kerala during the Onam period, which was festive season. Houses decorated with the traditional banana leaves to the people dressed in the native dress. It was one happy occassion with people welcoming the new year with the right spirit and enthusiasm. Along with Onam came the Snake Boat race in Kumarakonam – the ultimate test of speed by man! It shows the perfect combination of speed, balance and coordination by the rowers with the best team winning the race. All I can say is that the words and sentences are just the begining to define Kerala. The place has a great history behind yet it has been untouched for centuries. Certain experiences can only be felt and not described. Nurture the nature to let this place remain a paradise.

Skeptical of traveling long distances?

Luggage tantrums, check-in problems, health doldrums, jetlag, and then you get a seat which is not comfortable enough. Though long distances are made shorter through airways, or railways or any other form of transportation for that matter, it’s sometimes not worth the sufferings.

If you are an ardent traveller and love to explore the mysteries of the mysterious, sought the maze of the world, unfold puzzling facts, witness dark as well as the bright faces, frequent the most unfrequented sites, look out for what the world has in store for you, then you surely need to take precautions before you start of your quest.

Being an avid traveller, I have been to as many places as one can’t even think of, had experiences beyond imagination. I hog at all the facts about the world. The golden, sandy plains where only the ‘poison kings’ reside, Grey rickety terrains where you have to walk and only walk your life, orange boiling lava ready to gulp at everything that comes its way, icy glaciers where you can invite frost to relish your skin, a walk in the savannas where you prey hunters are looking out for you, the world is haunted with places where nobody can think of even surviving.

All this is possible today within a click of a mouse. Just pick the place you want to visit, be it the dark side or the lovely, picturesque one. Airways, railways, roadways will help you reach your destination. There are a couple of tips which can be followed to have a safe journey to the ultimate destination.

  1. To avoid jetlag in an air journey, book a flight in such a way as to arrive at a time when you can have the maximum sleep.

  2. During check-in, keep all the stuff in the baggage itself. Avoid carrying questionable items.

  3. Book seats of your choice, the ones you think will be comfortable enough.

  4. Do not trust strangers. Keep a check on your luggage.

5)If you find any unattended item or a bag, report to the cabin crew or the airport authorities.

I learnt these from my experiences. These would surely help you an enjoyable journey.

It’s like MY DELHI and as often it’s called “Dilli Dilwaalon Ki”. Delhi is a khichdi of all diverse forms of culture, religion and all. Here, you can witness the deadliest of combos , like , a Punjabi who’s fond of South Indian food, a malayalam guy speaking punjabi, and other diverse cultural amalgamation rarely found in any other state.

Asia’s biggest mosque Jama Masjid and the Akshardham Temple are closely located, indicating mutual respect of the people for each other’s religion.

So, what is DELHI ki JAAN ??? Its FOOD!! Dilli ke masaalon ka tadka is one thing that can not be found anywhere in the world. The typical fast-food that even the hottest Hollywood diva Madonna could not resist on her visit to the city was the CHAAT. Here, you get to taste the widest range of chaats, from aloo tikki to bhalle paapdi, the spicy junk food like chane bhature, paranthas, kulchas dipped in chana, the authentic paalak biryaani, the very loved rajma chaawal, faludas and rabdi kulfi in sweets are something that’s just too irresistible. Nothing can beat the Chinese food that is tailored according to the Indian tongues here, giving it a unique, Indo-Chinese taste. The range of food items is varied and easily available in the local streets of Delhi but if you want to have the real taste, visit the streets of Chandini Chowk, Kahmeree Gate, Karol Bagh, Daryaganj, Shahadra.

Delhi also offers quite a lot of attractive and fascinating places for the tourists, like the Red Fort, Humayun Tomb, India Gate, Jantar Mantar, Old Fort, Railway museum and the list can go on. Information kiosks are always at your help if you visit any of the museums or amusement parks.

Delhi is known to be a shopper’s paradise where you find high-profile dazzling shopping malls to the typical street shops. The typical Indian stuff, like, juttis, bangles, duppattas of each different kind, handicrafts, ethnic bags, lehnga choli, sarees, suits, junk jewelery, Indian cotton, jute and khadi fabrics that come in versatile prints, carpets can be shopped from Janpat, Dilli Haat, Sarojini Nagar, Connaught Place, Lajpat Nagar, Daryaganj, Chandini Chowk.

Delhi has improved in terms of its infrastructure, where one of the biggest achievement so far has been the Metro. This has eased off the commutation for many and is of great help and interest to all the tourists.

The mall culture in India exploded from no where else but, from Delhi. Delhi has come up with some huge and more than 200 malls in Delhi and NCR bringing all the big brands to one roof.

And this is what all makes Delhi “Dilwaalon Ki”…..

Tour the world, after all it’s a small place. It may sound paradoxical but it’s a fact.

And what makes it all the more easy? It’s the world wide web of course.

I have been lucky enough to go on a world tour with my family. Though the exuberant experience cannot be expressed in words, I’ll try to jot down some part of it. To start with, we had to fly to Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand. Being world famous for its shopping squares, this city didn’t let me down in terms of the shopping extravaganza. How I love to shop on the streets. Anyway, moving on, it’s also famous for it’s exotic beaches, especially the Pattaya beach which is the hot spot for tourists from round the globe. A bit of sun bathing with a tinge of shade from the skyscraping palm trees, it’s so refreshing. And if you’re an adventure freak, check out the breathtaking water sports. They’re something to simply die for.

The Merlion

The Merlion

Next destination was Singapore. The site for a Malay fishing village, it’s also known as the land of unique contrasts. The Merlion, symbol of this island is the most frequented tourist attraction. The Sentosa island is another such amazing place. The cable cars, the evening laser show on the beach sands. It was truly a reflection of immense tranquility.

The Petronas Twin Towers

The Petronas Twin Towers

Malaysia, truly Asia, hub of beaches, it’s the most sizzling tourist attraction. Who would not like to spend a vacation at a place as astounding as this. There are a number of packages that can be availed to go on a world tour. USA, Europe, and many more places are awaiting your visit to explore their possibilities.

The world is a natural junction of all colors, contrasts, sparkling waters, coral reefs, peaks that talk to the sky, glaciers that symbolise pure sanctity, there are tons of faces to the world. Virtualtourist.com, 123world.com, worldtravelguide.com are just a few portals that help you plan out your agenda for a perfect vacation. Take reference and believe me it’s all kept in a click of the mouse.

Thousands of sun-deprived tourists visit India because it incredibly has the most diverse varieties of beaches anywhere in the world. Placid backwaters and lagoons, bays and rough lava-rocked seas, marine estuaries with fish, crashing surf, powdery golden sand or palm fringed shores – Incredible India has them all.

On my excursion to Goa, the land of fluorescent painted palm trees and the famous full moon parties, I was mesmerised and transported to a different world altogether. An enthusiastic beach lover has an opportunity to discover new secluded beach sites every day. That’s not all. Kerala, God’s own country is propounded on the same lines. Its beaches are renowned for the gentle surf and blue waters. Beach travel had never before been so exciting for me.

Tranquil stretches of emerald backwaters, lush green hill stations and exotic wildlife, ayurvedic health resorts, enchanting art forms, magical festivals, historic and cultural monuments, an exotic cuisine…the list is endless. Oh!! it seems as if God had taken out special time to carve out this land of scenic beauty and shower it with the most attractive of the attractive facets. I just cannot ever forget the spa session at one of those exotic resorts. How it rejuvenated my nerves.

I think India specialises in the art of making heads swing to the hum of ecstasy. The lands of east, west, north and south symbolise pure eternity and have it all to make India the perfect destination for a holiday of a lifetime. It’s no more just in dreams. It can all be for real at the click of a mouse.

I decided to rest upon shopcorn.in to arrange my tour of the seventh heaven. Sites like indiatravel.com, incredibleindia.org, makemytrip.com, indiatourism.com, take upon the responsibility to provide with an exotic experience of Incredible India. Nothing can beat this perfect agenda for a holiday. I plan to pack my bags and set out again to rediscover sanctity.

I am a complete travel buff. Being an Indian, I simply love to guzzle every fact that I can about my country. Also, addressed as ‘the land of snake charmers’ by the Britishers, India, as everyone knows was ruptured to its core.

On my tour of the north of the country, it was unbelievable to watch diversities meet for real. From the scorching sun in Delhi to the wintry breeze in Nainital, the golden sun showing from behind the snow-capped peaks. The picturesque view is stuck in my mind like a poster on a wall. One of the largest National Parks, Jim Corbett is also situated here right in the middle of the mountains. A night safari into the spooky world of animals gave me goosebumps and the feel of actual adventure.

For hardcore adventure, the cascading waters of the Ganges at Rishikesh are world famous. Trekking, mountaineering, Rappeling, Bunjee jumping, rafting are only a few examples of the options available for a gutsy freak. Not just that, if you are fond of skiing then which place better than Kufri can serve you. On advancing further towards the northern peak, the beautiful valley of Kashmir welcomes to have a bliss of an experience. It is truly known as the ‘paradise on Earth’. The soothing Shikara journey in the Dal Lake, the fragrance of blossoms in the Flower Valley, no other country in my vision is so diverse and yet so united.

The virtual passage to the land of living fantasies is open for all. I loved my tour of the country’s most fascinating places. It’s something to be cherished for a lifetime.
